Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We support the entire Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. We are available for national
and international travel. We are based out of Flower Mound, Texas.
What is your style of photography?
A Great Shot covers an event with a combination of photojournalistic and
traditional styles. Our primary focus is to capture the special moments
and emotions that occur throughout the day; often in the most unexpected
places. Our brides love the variety they have to choose from. Sometimes
they discover new styles they like as well!
What types of photography and portrait services do you provide?
We provide a variety of different portraits and services including weddings,
bridal, engagement, family, children and babies, professional headshots,
corporate events, bar/bat mitzvahs, high school seniors, sports and action,
still photography, and photo restoration. If you have any specific requests,
please don’t hesitate to ask! Photography is our passion. We love
to try new ideas!
Do you provide albums?
We create custom albums for our wedding, engagement, bridals, bar or bat mitzvahs and family or children's images. Every album is customer designed just for you by our expert graphic designers. We don't use templates or standard set book designs. We want your album to be as unique as you are. Our album design process is interactive. We encourage you to participate as much as are comfortable with. Some brides are very hands on and others just want us to surprise them! We will be happy to show you several album examples during our initial consultation. To see our album choices please click here: Album OptionsHow do I set an appointment?
To set an appointment, just contact us either by e-mail or phone. At that
time we will set an appointment for a personal consultation at a convenient
location. You can also go to the Contact Us page on this website and send
us a contact request. We will then contact you right away to set an appointment.
What can I expect at the consultation?
At the consultation we will show you examples of our work from recent weddings
and photo sessions and explain what we do and how we do it. Most importantly
you will have the opportunity to get to know us. You will spend more time
with your photographer on your special day than most any other professional
who works to make your day a success. Liking your photographer sounds like
a minor thing.....but it isn't! Professionalism and a pleasant style are
critical to you enjoying your time to the fullest extent possible. We will
review your plans and expectations and answer any questions you may have.
Our extensive experience often gives us the opportunity to contribute to
a better experience than might have been possible otherwise.
Do you use digital photography equipment or film?
We use professional digital photography equipment. As technology advances,
professional photographers should advance as well. Digital photography allows
us to do so much more with your portraits than film. We shoot everything
at the highest resolution. This means the portraits we take are of such
quality that they can be blown up to very large sizes if you so desire.
What it means for average sized portraits is greater detail and a much finer
photograph. Our digital capabilities also allow us to provide our clients
with hand-tinted photographs, spot color, and the choice of black &
white or sepia on any image.
Who chooses the poses?
As a professional my job is to capture people in the most flattering way.
However, we don't want to create a bunch of stiff, posed photos either.
So we often arrange our clients comfortably and let them just relax and
enjoy themselves. We take plenty of photos of each pose. If you have something
you'd like to try don't be shy! If it is possible we'll try it. Who knows
it may become one of our favorites in the future! At your viewing session,
you will be able to choose your favorites from those poses.
How will I view my proofs and make my selections?
When your proofs from the photo session are ready for viewing, we will contact
you. At that time, you may view your photos on the website or in person.
We recommend the viewing in person so you can see the photos in true color
brightness and resolution .
Can I keep the negatives?
Yes. A disk will be provided when you meet a minimum purchase amount.
What about copyright laws?
A Great Shot Photography retains the copyright for your photographs, yet
with a minimum purchase specific permission is granted to you for personal
use and printing. You can make copies and share them, but they cannot be
published or used for commercial purposes without express written consent
from us.
Are your photographers experienced wedding professionals?
Yes! Jenn Jez has been a photographer for over 20 years and a professional
photographer in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for over 3 years.
If I need touch-ups to my photographs, can you do this and are there
additional costs?
Minor enhancements such as blemish removal and wrinkle reduction are included
at no cost. Glamour and complex retouching are available at an additional
charge.
What payment options are available?
We know that weddings are expensive. You have the venue to secure, the dress,
caterers, flowers etc. Of all the things you spend money on at your wedding;
your photographs are the only things that have an everlasting value. We
want to make it as easy as possible for you to have photographs to preserve
the memories of your wedding day. So, we allow you to split your payments.
Your initial photographer’s fee is required to book/hold your Wedding
date. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to your date. This allows
you to get what you really want without having to pay for it all at once.
In most cases, you can make separate payments up to your date. If special
arrangements are needed, don't hesitate to let us know. ALL brides should
have gorgeous memories of their wedding and we would like to help make that
possible. We do not require packages so you can choose exactly what you
need.
How do I know if you are available for my date?
Please contact us via phone or email and we will discuss your plans with
you and determine if we are available. Often, we are contacted first to
verify our dates of availability when the decision is being made to book
the location etc. We make every effort to accommodate our brides and provide
them with high access and availability on the special day. Simply enter
your date and the info requested on the Contact Us Page and we will contact
you to let you know whether or not we are booked for that day or if we're
available. Or, you may contact us at 214-532-3391 or jennjez@agreatshot.com.
How far in advance should I book your services?
The earlier the better. Popular dates fill up very quickly. As a general
rule of thumb the photographer and the location are the first two items
to be booked due to limited availability. The better and more popular the
photographer, the more difficult it will be to obtain their services closer
to your date. Sometimes you'll get lucky but generally no less than 6-9
months in advance is advisable. Brides usually book 7-8 months or more prior
to the wedding date. Allow 2-3 weeks for proofs to be ready for all other
photo sessions (rush services are available).
What is required to book your services?
Contact us for a consultation. We will come to you and discuss your plans
and options for photography. You will select the coverage you desire,
go over the contract and pay the Photographer’s fee. Portrait photo
sessions, engagements, corporate headshots, etc.—call for an appointment
time/date.
What if I want photography for my wedding, yet don't want one of your
offered packages?
We offer a la carte photography services. We do not require a package purchase,
so you choose exactly what you need. Please contact us for specifics so
we can discuss for specific requests.
